The OKV cafe is a social eco-sustainable space that gives those wanting to start their own food business the opportunity to do so but without the financial risks involved when doing so in a traditional commercial environment. It is a shared economy model where assets are provided by the OKV and shared by it's users coupled with onsite business support & advice to help them gain the best start to success.
The benefits for the community in return are that families experiencing food insecurity gain dignified access to affordable nutritious food in their neighbourhood. It also recognizes that the 'Social' is a vital part of the change process and that food is a powerful connector and catalyst to expanding wider social, economic and cultural opportunities for individuals, families and communities. |
If you are interested in starting your own food business without the financial risks and pressures of a traditional commercial enviroment then please get in touch. Please note that our space is open to all however preference will be given to those who can align themselves to our kaupapa. We promote eco-sustainable business practices, food must not replicate what is already available in our Otara town centre, your menu must include healthy affordable options and those living within the Otara-Papatoetoe local board area will be given priority placement.
