The Ōtara Bike Burb is an official bike burb under Bike Auckland created by some hearty Ōtara residents. Bike Auckland’s mission is to encourage cycling in the Otara-Papatoetoe Board area. Bike Burbs are independent, but affiliated with Bike Auckland through a Bike Burbs Handshake Agreement which ensures they can support our grass roots bike burbs in the ways we need. All other Bike Burbs in Auckland can be found here.
We’re all about getting more people cycling and doing it safety in our community! Our Bike Hub is a very swag & friendly place where we welcome anyone, of any age and level of experience, who is interested in riding a bike or has an interest in E-Scooters, Bikes and Boards.
What’s on offer:
We offer koha maintenance and basic bike repairs to get you back up and going again. Please note our team are all trained volunteers and if you wish to have you bike fixed you do so at your own risk. We don’t offer a certified specialized mechanical repair service where you can drop your bike off to be fixed but we can point you in the right direction if this is a service you require.

Have a bike?
Bring it in for advice and support about maintenance and basic repairs. We have parts available to purchase, including replacement cables, tyre tubes, brake pads and chains.
Don’t have a bike (yet)?
We have a range of serviced low-cost used bikes for sale or loan, or can provide advice about where else you could find a bike to suit your needs. We can also offer advice and support if you haven’t ridden a bike in a while (or ever!)
Why bikes?
Every time someone travels by bike, it’s potentially one less car journey and one more person staying active. Every used bike we rescue and refurbish keeps it out of landfill, putting it back in use, through loans or low cost purchase.
Bike Donations and Volunteers:
As a registered charity, we happily accept donated bikes and parts in reasonable condition that we restore and sell at low cost to help fund our service. Donated bikes can be dropped off at any of our Bike Hub sites during opening hours. Unfortunately we do not have the resourcing capacity to collect donated bikes. We also welcome volunteers. Get in touch by emailing through the contact form below if you’re interested in volunteering at the Ōtara Bike Burb.
